Project Details:

Project:Sanctuary Cove
Scope:FTTP Design, Construct, Operate & Maintain
Client:Sanctuary Cove Communication Services Pty Ltd
Duration:Jan 2008 - Feb 2013

Between 2008 and 2013, UCG designed, constructed, operated and maintained Australia’s first fibre-to-the-home network. The landmark project delivered broadband, free-to-air, pay-tv, telephony, CCTV and security systems. The solutions UCG delivered were at the forefront of innovation; including radio-frequency-over-glass (RFoG), QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) for pay-tv and converting analogue security signals to digital and back to analogue to maintain legacy security systems. As a result, UCG was invited by the Australian Government’s Standing Senate Committee to provide industry views on how the solution could be rolled out across Australia.

This triple play Fibre to the Premise (FTTP) network for Sanctuary Cove Resort on the Gold Coast, among the first of its kind in Australia, delivered:

  • Free to air and pay-TV
  • Fixed line broadband and telephony services to over 1,000 brownfield premises
  • 900 greenfield premises
