Universal Communications Group’s business model comprises of subcontracting the construction work to our valued Delivery Partners (subcontractor companies). Once our Service Management Centre issues a ticket of work inclusive design, it is up to our Construction Management and Field Supervisors to monitor the progress of construction. Our Construction team provide technical advice to our Delivery Partners so they can complete their civil and/or cabling work to high quality and in a timely, safe and environmentally conscious manner. The Field Supervisors induct and train new Delivery Partners and ensure the subcontractor workforce understands and adheres to our safe systems of work. Field Supervisors also visit owners of our construction sites to provide them information or solve their problems.

Universal Communications Group has a team of in-house Designers based in Brisbane, Sydney, Auckland and Wellington who are capable of designing solutions for job sites that require the installation of broadband services. The team can provide solutions for the multi technology mix that has been adopted by our clients and provides designs for various residential and commercial settings such as broad acre residential developments, multilevel residential buildings, shopping centres, hospitals and universities. The team members use cutting edge drafting software to draw designs over geospatial maps which calculates the entire cost of the construction both labour and materials.

Our Heritage, Environment & Cultural Identification and Land Access team form part of the Service Management Centre and the team undertakes all required research to ensure that relevant heritage, environmental and indigenous considerations are fully discovered and taken into account during design and construction. Searching through various government or government agency websites to identify the special circumstances that may apply to the construction site is a key part of the process. The team also obtains ‘dial before you dig’ plans and liaises with appropriate authorities to obtain approval to work in or adjacent traffic corridors.

Our Project Managers manage our large construction sites such as the provision of broadband services throughout shopping centres, universities, hospitals and broad acre residential and high rise residential green field sites. Project Managers have an advanced understanding of design and construction and a background in either. Our Software Development team are responsible for the development and evolution of our bespoke work management software named siteTRAX. Our software is used to manage the design and construction jobs from the moment our clients allocate each ticket of work to us right through to recording the job as completed and ready to claim. The software interfaces with our client’s software and is used extensively by employees and Delivery Partners, including Applications which allow workers to update site status in real time. The team uses scrum methodology to ensure its activity is closely aligned with the business’ needs.

Universal Communications Group relies on Delivery Partners to provide scoping services and construction services (civil works, cabling and splicing) in order to build broadband services throughout Australia and New Zealand. Currently our Delivery Partners have approximately 1,000 persons working on our job sites throughout both countries when combined.
Our contractual relationships with our Delivery Partners are designed to create a relationship where both Universal Communications Group and its Delivery Partner shall both be successful.
